Indications
Lortal (Chlorthalidone) is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension. Its use is effective for the management of essential hypertension in adults. Furthermore, it is used in the prevention of cardiovascular complications associated with hypertension, such as heart attacks and strokes. It can also be used in the treatment of edema associated with congestive heart failure, hepatic cirrhosis, and nephrotic syndrome.
Composition
Each Lortal tablet contains 50 mg of chlorthalidone as the active ingredient, as well as necessary excipients for its formulation.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to chlorthalidone or any of the product's excipients. It is also contraindicated in cases of anuria, severe renal insufficiency, and during pregnancy and lactation, unless used under strict medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Lortal to patients with a history of gout, diabetes mellitus, or liver diseases. It is important to monitor renal function and electrolytes, as it can cause electrolyte imbalances, especially hypokalemia. Regular blood pressure assessment is recommended during treatment.
Storage
Store the medication in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
