Indications
Lofenical Nasal Solution 0.25% is indicated for the temporary relief of nasal congestion associated with common colds, sinusitis, and allergic rhinitis. Phenylephrine, its active ingredient, acts as a decongestant by causing constriction of blood vessels in the nasal membranes, resulting in decreased swelling and congestion. This medication can be useful for facilitating nasal breathing and improving patient comfort in situations of congestion.
Composition
Each 100 ml of nasal solution contains:
- Phenylephrine 0.25 g
- Excipients: Purified water, sodium chloride, hydrochloric acid and/or sodium hydroxide (to adjust pH).
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to phenylephrine or any of the components of the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with uncontrolled hypertension, severe cardiovascular diseases, or in those who are being treated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs).
Precautions
Special care should be taken in patients with cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus, or hyperthyroidism. Prolonged use of nasal decongestants can result in a rebound effect, causing increased nasal congestion. Use in children under 6 years of age is not recommended without medical supervision.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place and protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
