Indications
Lincomycin is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections susceptible to its action. It is used in respiratory tract infections, bone and joint infections, skin and soft tissue infections, as well as genitourinary tract infections. It is especially useful in cases of infections caused by gram-positive bacteria, including some staphylococci and streptococci. It can also be considered in penicillin-allergic patients, as it has a different action profile. Its use should be guided by the susceptibility of the pathogen identified in microbiological cultures.
Composition
Each 600 mg/2 ml Lincomycin ampoule contains: Lincomycin (as lincomycin hydrochloride) 600 mg, excipients q.s.p. 2 ml.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to lincomycin or any component of the formula. It should not be administered to patients with severe gastrointestinal diseases, such as ulcerative colitis or pseudomembranous colitis, as it may worsen the condition. It is also contraindicated in those with severe hepatic insufficiency.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when using Lincomycin in patients with a history of colitis, as it may induce pseudomembranous colitis. It is important to monitor liver and kidney function during treatment, as well as to be alert for signs of allergic reactions. Its use in combination with other antibiotics is not recommended without proper supervision, due to possible interactions.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
