Indications

Levetiracetam is indicated for the treatment of partial epileptic seizures, with or without secondary generalization, in adult and pediatric patients aged 4 years and older. It is also used as adjunctive therapy in juvenile myoclonic epilepsy and in the treatment of absence seizures in patients who do not respond adequately to other treatments. This medication works by reducing abnormal electrical activity in the brain, which helps control seizures.

Composition

Each tablet contains 1000 mg of Levetiracetam as the active ingredient. Excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, starch, magnesium stearate, and other excipients.

Contraindications

Levetiracetam is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe renal insufficiency without dose adjustment.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Levetiracetam to patients with a history of psychiatric disorders, including depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts, as an increased incidence of these adverse effects has been reported. Likewise, patients should be monitored for any changes in behavior or mood. Abrupt discontinuation of treatment is not recommended, as this may precipitate seizures.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
