Indications
Levetiracetam is indicated for the treatment of epileptic seizures in patients over 12 years of age with myoclonic epilepsy, as well as in patients with focal epilepsy. This medication acts on the central nervous system, helping to reduce the frequency and severity of seizures. It is effective as adjunctive therapy in patients with refractory epilepsy, and is also used in the treatment of generalized tonic-clonic seizures. Its use must be supervised by a specialist physician, who will determine the dose and duration of treatment according to the individual characteristics of the patient.
Composition
Each tablet contains 1000 mg of Levetiracetam, as well as excipients such as microcrystalline cellulose, starch, and other inactive components that facilitate the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
Levetiracetam is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to any of the excipients in the formula. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of psychiatric disorders, as this medication may exacerbate certain symptoms in some individuals.
Precautions
It is recommended to monitor patients who experience alterations in renal function, as the elimination of Levetiracetam may be affected. In addition, care should be taken in patients with a history of depression or mood changes, as there may be an increased risk of suicidal thoughts. It is essential to follow the doctor's instructions and not abruptly discontinue treatment, as this may lead to an increase in seizure frequency.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, out of reach of children. Avoid exposure to direct light and do not use after the expiration date indicated on the packaging.
