Indications
Lamotrigine is indicated for the treatment of seizure episodes in patients with partial and generalized epilepsy. It is also used as adjunctive treatment in patients with bipolar disorder to reduce the frequency of depression and mania episodes. Its use must be supervised by a physician, who will determine the appropriate dosage regimen according to the patient's needs.
Composition
Each Lamotrigine tablet contains 100 mg of lamotrigine as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients that facilitate its formulation and stability.
Contraindications
Lamotrigine is contraindicated in patients who have known hypersensitivity to lamotrigine or to any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use should also be avoided in patients who are receiving treatment with other antiepileptic drugs that may increase the risk of adverse reactions.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of skin rashes, as lamotrigine may increase the risk of developing Stevens-Johnson syndrome. Continuous monitoring of liver function is important, and the dose should be adjusted in case of alterations. Likewise, it is recommended to inform the doctor about any other medications the patient is taking to avoid interactions.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
