Indications
Lamotrigine is indicated for the treatment of various forms of epilepsy, including partial seizures and generalized tonic-clonic seizures. It is used as adjunctive therapy in patients with refractory epilepsy, as well as in the treatment of mood disorders, such as bipolar affective disorder, to stabilize mood and prevent episodes of depression and mania. Proper administration of Lamotrigine can contribute to reducing the frequency and severity of epileptic seizures in patients diagnosed with these disorders.
Composition
Each Lamotrigine tablet contains 100 mg of lamotrigine, as well as excipients that allow for the formulation and stability of the product.
Contraindications
Lamotrigine is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to lamotrigine or any of the excipients in the formulation. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to other anticonvulsants. Its use in patients with severe hepatic impairment is not recommended.
Precautions
Careful monitoring of patients is recommended during the initiation of treatment, as severe cutaneous adverse reactions, including Stevens-Johnson syndrome, may occur. Furthermore, special care should be taken when combining Lamotrigine with other medications that may affect its metabolism, such as hepatic enzyme-inducing anticonvulsants. Dose titration should be gradual to minimize the risk of adverse effects.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct light and out of the reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
