Indications
Imfinzo (Durvalumab) is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who have progressed during or after platinum-based chemotherapy. It is also used in the treatment of patients with locally advanced or metastatic urothelial bladder cancer who have progressed during or after platinum-based chemotherapy. This medication acts as a monoclonal antibody that blocks the interaction of Programmed Death-Ligand 1 (PD-L1) with its receptor, thereby allowing the immune system to attack tumor cells.
Composition
Each Imfinzo ampoule contains 500 mg of Durvalumab in a 10 ml volume of injectable solution.
Contraindications
Imfinzo is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to durvalumab or to any of the excipients in the formulation. Furthermore, its use is not recommended in patients with active autoimmune diseases or in those with uncontrolled infections.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of autoimmune disorders, as treatment may exacerbate these conditions. It is essential to monitor patients for signs of pneumonitis, colitis, hepatitis, endocrinopathies, and other immunity-related adverse reactions. Regular pulmonary and liver function tests are recommended during treatment.
Storage
Imfinzo should be stored in its original packaging, protected from light, at a temperature between 2 °C and 8 °C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
