Indications
Hydrochlorothiazide is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults. This medication acts as a thiazide diuretic, helping to reduce blood pressure and prevent cardiovascular complications. In addition, it can be used in the management of edema associated with congestive heart failure, hepatic cirrhosis, and renal disorders. Its use must be supervised by a physician, who will determine the appropriate dose according to the patient's specific needs.
Composition
Each 25 mg Hydrochlorothiazide tablet contains 25 mg of hydrochlorothiazide as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients that allow for the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
Hydrochlorothiazide is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to hydrochlorothiazide or any component of the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with anuria or those with severe renal function impairment. Its use should be evaluated in people with a history of gout, diabetes mellitus, or liver diseases.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of electrolyte imbalances, such as hypokalemia or hyponatremia, as the medication may worsen these conditions. Likewise, it is recommended to monitor renal function and electrolytes during treatment. Its use is not recommended during pregnancy and lactation unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision.
