Indications

Glibenclamide is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. This medication is used as part of a therapeutic regimen that may include diet and exercise, with the aim of improving blood glucose control. Glibenclamide works by stimulating the release of insulin from the pancreas, which helps reduce glucose levels in the body. It is recommended to evaluate the patient's response to treatment and adjust the dose as needed, always under medical supervision.

Composition

Each tablet contains 5 mg of glibenclamide as the active ingredient, as well as excipients necessary for the product's formulation.

Contraindications

Glibenclamide is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to glibenclamide or other sulfonylureas. It should not be administered in cases of type 1 diabetes mellitus, diabetic ketoacidosis, or in patients with severe renal failure. Likewise, its use should be avoided in situations of acute stress, such as infections or surgeries.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with hepatic insufficiency, as glibenclamide metabolism may be affected. Likewise, care should be taken in elderly patients or those at high risk of hypoglycemia. Regular monitoring of glycemic control and dose adjustment as needed are important. Patients should also be informed about the symptoms of hypoglycemia and how to manage them.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, protected from direct light and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
