Indications
Gelbeck (diphenhydramine) is indicated for the treatment of various allergic conditions, including allergic rhinitis, urticaria, and other allergic reactions. In addition, it can be used as a sedative in the treatment of occasional insomnia and for the relief of symptoms associated with the common cold, such as sneezing, nasal congestion, and itchy eyes or throat. Diphenhydramine works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms. It is recommended that the use of this medication be supervised by a healthcare professional.
Composition
Each Gelbeck capsule contains 25 mg of diphenhydramine as an active ingredient, as well as the excipients necessary for the product's formulation.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to diphenhydramine or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with narrow-angle glaucoma, urinary retention, and those undergoing treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) due to the possibility of adverse interactions. Its use is not recommended in children under 6 years of age without medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with chronic respiratory diseases, high blood pressure, heart disease, and in the elderly, who may be more susceptible to side effects. This medication may cause drowsiness; therefore, driving or operating heavy machinery should be avoided after consumption.
