Indications
Gaelorax (Quetiapine) is indicated in the treatment of psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depressive episodes associated with bipolar disorder. Quetiapine acts as an atypical antipsychotic that helps improve the symptoms of these conditions, including hallucinations, delusions, and mood swings. It is also used in the treatment of major depression in patients who present with this disorder in combination with other mood disorders.
Dosage should be individualized, generally starting with a low dose that can be adjusted according to the patient's response and tolerability. It is important that patients receiving quetiapine treatment are monitored regularly to evaluate efficacy and the appearance of adverse effects. Therapy can be combined with other medications according to clinical evaluation and patient need.
Composition
Each Gaelorax tablet contains 100 mg of quetiapine as an active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
Gaelorax is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to quetiapine or any of the excipients in the formula. Its use should also be avoided in patients with central nervous system depression, as well as in those with a history of serious adverse events related to the use of antipsychotics.
Precautions
Special care should be taken in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, liver failure, metabolic syndrome, or those who present with symptoms of mania. Additionally, the use of quetiapine may be associated with an increased risk of cerebrovascular events in elderly patients with dementia. Continuous medical follow-up during treatment is essential.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
