Indications

Gabapentin is indicated for the treatment of epilepsy as adjunctive therapy in adult patients and children over 12 years of age with partial seizures, with or without secondary generalization. It is also used for the management of neuropathic pain in adults, especially in cases of diabetic neuropathy and postherpetic neuralgia. Its use may be considered in the treatment of anxiety disorders and other conditions requiring mood stabilization.

Composition

Each capsule contains 300 mg of gabapentin as the active ingredient. Excipients: gelatin, titanium dioxide, yellow colorant, among others.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to gabapentin or any of the excipients present in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless the potential benefit justifies the risk to the fetus or infant.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of kidney disease, as gabapentin elimination occurs primarily through the kidneys. Dosage adjustment is suggested in patients with renal insufficiency. Likewise, it is important to monitor patients who experience changes in mood or behavior during treatment, as cases of suicidal thoughts have been reported in some patients receiving gabapentin.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
