Indications

Gabapentin is indicated for the treatment of partial seizures, with or without secondary generalization, in adult and pediatric patients 3 years of age and older. It is also used in the management of neuropathic pain, which can occur in conditions such as diabetic neuropathy and postherpetic neuralgia. Gabapentin can be used as adjunctive therapy in the treatment of epilepsy and has been shown to be effective in reducing the frequency and severity of seizures. The use of this medication should be monitored by a healthcare professional, who can adjust the dose according to the patient's clinical response.

Composition

Each capsule contains 300 mg of Gabapentin. Excipients: starch, microcrystalline cellulose, talc, and gelatin.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Gabapentin or any of the excipients in the formula. Its use during pregnancy is not recommended unless the benefits outweigh the potential risks to the fetus.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of kidney disease, as Gabapentin is primarily eliminated through this route. Likewise, careful monitoring is recommended in patients who experience depression or mood disorders, as behavioral changes have been reported during treatment with Gabapentin. It is important to avoid abrupt discontinuation of treatment to prevent the risk of epileptic seizures.

Storage

Store the medication in its original container, protected from light and moisture, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
