Indications
Furitex Suspension is indicated for the treatment of urinary tract infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including cystitis and pyelonephritis. Its antibacterial action is effective against microorganisms such as Escherichia coli and other Gram-negative bacilli, as well as some Gram-positives. This medication is frequently used in cases where other antibacterials may not be effective, being particularly useful in patients with a history of recurrent infections. Additionally, it can be used as prophylaxis in patients at high risk of urinary infections, especially in women who experience recurrent episodes. It is important that Furitex be used under the supervision of a healthcare professional who determines the necessity and duration of treatment.
Composition
Each 100 ml of suspension contains 0.5 g of Nitrofurantoin as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients that facilitate product formulation and stability, ensuring the efficacy of the medication throughout its shelf life.
Contraindications
Furitex is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Nitrofurantoin or to any component of the formula. It should not be used in patients with severe renal insufficiency, as drug accumulation can lead to toxicity. Furthermore, it is contraindicated in pregnancy at term and in neonates younger than one month due to the possibility of adverse effects on the baby's development.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with pulmonary diseases, as well as in those with a history of peripheral neuropathy or G6PD deficiency. Medical follow-up during treatment is essential to detect any adverse reactions or signs of toxicity. In case of adverse effects, a doctor should be consulted immediately.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
