Indications

10% Fluorescein Sodium is indicated for the evaluation of ocular function, specifically for fluorescein angiography tests, which allow visualization of ocular circulation and detection of lesions in the cornea and retina. It is also used to identify foreign bodies in the eye and to evaluate the permeability of blood vessels in the ocular area. This medication is valuable in clinical settings for the diagnosis of various ocular pathologies, providing the physician with crucial information for appropriate patient treatment.

Composition

Each 5 ml of 10% Fluorescein Sodium contains: Fluorescein Sodium 500 mg (equivalent to 10 mg/ml), excipients q.s.

Contraindications

Fluorescein Sodium is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to fluorescein or to any of the components of the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe heart disease or in those who have previously experienced allergic reactions to this type of dye.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Fluorescein Sodium to patients with a history of allergic reactions, especially those with asthma or allergic rhinitis. Additionally, careful evaluation is recommended for patients with a history of renal insufficiency, as fluorescein is primarily eliminated by this route. It is important to perform a comprehensive medical assessment before administering the medication.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
