Indications

Firialta is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension in adults. Finerenone, its active ingredient, acts as a selective mineralocorticoid receptor modulator and is used in patients with chronic kidney disease and type 2 diabetes. This medication may also be considered in the management of heart failure, as it helps reduce disease progression and lower the risk of adverse cardiovascular events. It is essential that the use of Firialta is part of a comprehensive approach that includes lifestyle changes and other antihypertensive therapies as indicated by the treating physician.

Composition

Each Firialta tablet contains 20 mg of finerenone as an active ingredient. It also contains excipients that allow for the formulation of the medication, a complete list of which can be found on the product packaging.

Contraindications

Firialta is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to finerenone or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be used in patients with acute renal failure, hyperkalemia, or those who are being treated with angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) in combination with potassium-sparing diuretics.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Firialta to patients with a history of kidney disease, electrolyte disorders, or those taking other medications that may affect potassium levels. It is advisable to monitor potassium levels and kidney function when starting treatment and during its course.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
