Indications
Finasteride is indicated for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia in men, helping to reduce prostate size and improve urinary flow. Additionally, it is used in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia in men, promoting hair growth and preventing hair loss. This medication works by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which contributes to the reduction of prostatic volume and improves associated urinary symptoms. It is important that treatment be supervised by a healthcare professional to ensure its effectiveness and safety.
Composition
Each Finasteride 5 mg tablet contains: Finasteride 5 mg as active ingredient. Excipients: Lactose, corn starch, magnesium stearate.
Contraindications
Finasteride is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to finasteride or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to women, especially during pregnancy or lactation, as it can cause abnormalities in male fetal development.
Precautions
Regular medical monitoring is recommended during treatment. Patients should be informed about the possibility of adverse effects, such as erectile dysfunction or decreased libido.
