Indications

Finasteride is indicated for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men, as well as for reducing the risk of acute urinary retention and the need for BPH-related surgery. In addition, it is used in the treatment of androgenic alopecia in men, helping to promote hair growth and prevent hair loss. Finasteride acts by inhibiting the 5-alpha-reductase enzyme, which is responsible for converting testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that contributes to prostate growth and androgenic pattern hair loss.

Composition

Each tablet contains: Finasteride 5 mg. Excipients: Lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, and other excipients.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Finasteride or any of the components of the formula. It should not be used in women, especially during pregnancy, as it may cause harm to the male fetus. Furthermore, its use is not recommended in children.

Precautions

Regular medical follow-up is important during treatment with Finasteride. Patients should be informed about the possibility of adverse effects, such as sexual dysfunction, and the need to report any unusual symptoms. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disorders, and the possibility of performing PSA (prostate-specific antigen) tests before and during treatment should be considered.
