Indications

Feradech (Irinotecan) is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. It is commonly used in combination with other chemotherapeutic agents such as 5-fluorouracil and leucovorin to enhance treatment efficacy. It is also included in therapeutic protocols for the treatment of neoplasms of other origins, such as non-small cell lung cancer. Its mechanism of action is based on the inhibition of topoisomerase I, leading to cell cycle arrest and cell death in tumor cells.

Composition

Each ampoule of Feradech contains 100 mg of irinotecan, as well as excipients necessary for its formulation. This medication is presented as an injectable solution, which must be administered by a healthcare professional.

Contraindications

Feradech is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to irinotecan or any of the components of the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe diarrhea or those with intestinal obstruction. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation, unless the potential benefit justifies the risk to the fetus or infant.

Precautions

Special caution is required in patients with a history of liver disease, as irinotecan is metabolized in the liver. Patients should be monitored for the appearance of adverse effects such as neutropenia, diarrhea, and gastrointestinal toxicity. It is important to adjust the dose based on clinical response and observed side effects.

Storage

Feradech should be stored at controlled room temperature between 15°C and 30°C, protected from light and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.

Otherwise, a fee of $170.00 MXN (One hundred seventy Mexican pesos) will be added for a standard package with dimensions up to 20cm x 20cm x 20cm and 1kg in weight, and $290.00 MXN (Two hundred ninety Mexican pesos) for packages exceeding the aforementioned dimensions or weight.
