Indications

Exicort is indicated for the treatment of various painful and inflammatory conditions. It is used in the management of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. It is also prescribed for the treatment of acute pain, such as postoperative pain and pain associated with sports injuries. This medication helps reduce inflammation and provides pain relief by selectively inhibiting the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme, which is involved in the production of prostaglandins responsible for inflammation and pain.

Composition

Each Exicort tablet contains 90 mg of etoricoxib as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients that facilitate its formulation and administration.

Contraindications

Exicort is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to etoricoxib or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to other NSAIDs. Likewise, it is contraindicated in patients with severe heart failure, severe kidney or liver disease, and in those with conditions that pose a high risk of gastrointestinal bleeding.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Exicort to patients with a history of peptic ulcers, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, and in those using anticoagulants. It is important to monitor renal and hepatic function during prolonged treatment. The use of this medication in combination with other NSAIDs is not recommended to avoid an increased risk of adverse effects.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, protected from direct light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
