Indications

Exclefin (Loperamide) is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of non-specific acute diarrhea and chronic diarrhea associated with intestinal diseases. This medication works by decreasing intestinal motility and increasing the transit time of intestinal contents, which allows for better absorption of fluids and electrolytes. It is useful in cases of diarrhea caused by bacterial or viral infections, as well as in cases of traveler's diarrhea. Its use is not recommended in cases of diarrhea caused by infections involving high fever or blood in the stools, as it could mask symptoms of more serious diseases.

Composition

Each Exclefin tablet contains 2 mg of loperamide as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients such as microcrystalline cellulose, starch, and magnesium stearate.

Contraindications

Exclefin is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to loperamide or any of the components of the formula. It is also contraindicated in cases of severe infectious diarrhea (e.g., bacterial colitis) and in patients with acute ulcerative colitis or pseudomembranous colitis, as well as in those with chronic constipation.

Precautions

Special care should be taken in patients with liver disease, as the metabolism of loperamide may be affected. Likewise, its use should be evaluated in elderly patients or those with conditions that may predispose to dehydration. It is important to avoid self-medication and prolonged use without medical supervision.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
