Indications
Etoricoxib is indicated for the treatment of acute and chronic pain. It is used in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and postoperative pain. It is also used in the management of primary dysmenorrhea and in the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis. Its action is based on the selective inhibition of the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme, which reduces the synthesis of prostaglandins, responsible for inflammation and pain.
Composition
Each tablet contains 90 mg of etoricoxib as the active ingredient. Excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, starch, talc, and other inactive excipients.
Contraindications
It should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to etoricoxib or any of the excipients. It is contraindicated in patients with a history of active peptic ulcers, severe hepatic insufficiency, severe renal insufficiency, and in patients who have experienced allergic reactions to other NSAIDs. Its use is not recommended in the third trimester of pregnancy.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of hypertension, heart failure, kidney disease, or liver disease. Renal function and blood pressure should be monitored during treatment. Prolonged use may increase the risk of cardiovascular events, so individual patient risk should be assessed.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
