Indications

Spironolactone is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension, as well as for the management of edema associated with congestive heart failure, hepatic cirrhosis, and nephrotic syndrome. It is also used in the treatment of primary and secondary hyperaldosteronism, and in the management of hypokalemia in patients requiring diuretic treatment. This medication acts as an aldosterone antagonist, promoting the excretion of sodium and water, and the retention of potassium.

Composition

Each tablet contains: Spironolactone 25 mg, excipients: starch, talc, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate.

Contraindications

Spironolactone is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to spironolactone or any of its components, as well as in those with acute or severe renal failure, anuria, and in patients with hyperkalemia. It is also contraindicated in pregnant and lactating women, except in specific circumstances under medical supervision.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes mellitus, or those who are receiving other medications that may affect potassium levels. Regular monitoring of electrolytes, especially potassium, is recommended during treatment with spironolactone.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
