Indications
Spironolactone is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension, as well as for the prevention and treatment of edema associated with congestive heart failure, hepatic cirrhosis, and nephrotic syndrome. In addition, it is used in cases of primary and secondary hyperaldosteronism, as well as for the treatment of hirsutism in women, as part of hormone therapy. This medication acts as a potassium-sparing diuretic, meaning it helps eliminate excess fluid from the body without causing significant potassium loss.
Composition
Each Spironolactone 25 mg tablet contains: Spironolactone as an active ingredient and excipients necessary for the product's formulation.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to spironolactone or any component of the formula. It should not be used in patients with anuria, severe acute or chronic kidney disease, or in those with high potassium levels in the blood (hyperkalemia). Its use should be avoided during pregnancy and lactation, unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with renal insufficiency, liver disease, or those taking other medications that may affect potassium levels. Regular electrolyte checks should be performed during treatment. It is important to inform your doctor about any other medications you are taking to avoid interactions.
