Indications
Espafarm is indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders that present with spasms, such as irritable bowel syndrome, abdominal colic, and biliary dyskinesia. It is also used in the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting, especially in cases related to motion sickness. Its antispasmodic action relaxes the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract, thus contributing to the reduction of pain and discomfort associated with these conditions. Furthermore, it can be useful in diagnostic procedures that require relaxation of the gastrointestinal tract.
Composition
Each milliliter of Espafarm contains 6.67 mg of hyoscine (scopolamine bromide) as the active ingredient. Excipients include: purified water, hydrochloric acid, and other inactive components that facilitate the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
Espafarm is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to hyoscine or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered in cases of angle-closure glaucoma, myasthenia gravis, or in patients with intestinal obstruction or severe heart problems.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of heart disease, hypertension, or kidney problems. It is recommended to evaluate the use of this medication in the elderly and in patients who are being treated with other medications that may interact with hyoscine. During use, activities requiring attention, such as driving, should be avoided due to the possibility of drowsiness.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the packaging.
