Indications
Doycur is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections caused by clarithromycin-sensitive microorganisms. These include, but are not limited to:
- Upper respiratory tract infections, such as sinusitis and pharyngitis.
- Lower respiratory tract infections, including community-acquired pneumonia.
- Skin and soft tissue infections.
- Infections caused by Mycobacterium avium in AIDS patients.
Clarithromycin works by inhibiting protein synthesis in bacteria, leading to their death and resolution of the infection.
Composition
Each Doycur tablet contains:
- Clarithromycin: 250 mg
- Excipients: Microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Doycur is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to clarithromycin, other macrolide antibiotics, or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients receiving certain medications that may interact with clarithromycin, such as ergotamine and dihydroergotamine.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with renal or hepatic impairment, as well as those with a history of cardiac arrhythmias. Close monitoring is important in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease who are undergoing clarithromycin treatment due to the risk of adverse effects.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C. Keep in a dry place and out of reach of children.
