Indications
Dipera is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea. It is effective in reducing stool frequency and consistency in patients with non-infectious diarrhea. It is also used in the management of diarrhea associated with inflammatory bowel diseases and in the control of chemotherapy-induced diarrhea. Its action is based on decreasing intestinal motility, which allows for greater absorption of fluids and electrolytes, thus relieving symptoms associated with diarrhea.
Composition
Each Dipera tablet contains 2 mg of loperamide as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients such as starch, lactose, and magnesium stearate.
Contraindications
Dipera is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to loperamide or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered in cases of diarrhea caused by bacterial infections or in the presence of acute ulcerative colitis. It is contraindicated in patients with severe constipation or in those with symptoms of acute abdomen.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of bowel disease, especially those with colitis. Its use is not recommended in children under 12 years of age without medical supervision. It is important to monitor patients for the possible appearance of signs of intestinal obstruction or ischemic colitis.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of reach of children. Storage temperature should not exceed 30°C.
