Indications
Dimacol Adult solution is indicated for the treatment of nausea and vomiting of central origin, as well as in cases of motion sickness or vertigo. It is especially useful in the management of nausea and vomiting associated with balance disorders, travel by plane, car, or boat, and in situations that may cause gastrointestinal discomfort. It is also used as a prophylactic in patients undergoing surgical or diagnostic procedures that may cause postoperative nausea. This medication acts as an antiemetic, blocking histamine receptors in the central nervous system, contributing to the decrease in the activity of the vomiting center.
Composition
Dimacol Adult solution contains 50 mg of dimenhydrinate per 5 ml of solution. Additionally, it contains excipients that allow for the proper formulation of the product.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to dimenhydrinate or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be administered to patients with closed-angle glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, or pyloric stenosis. Likewise, its use is contraindicated in patients with severe respiratory diseases and in those with central nervous system depression.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Dimacol to patients with heart disease, hypertension, epilepsy, or those undergoing treatment with central nervous system depressants. Alcohol intake should be avoided during treatment, as it may enhance the sedative effects of the formula. In addition, care should be taken when driving vehicles or operating heavy machinery while under treatment with this medication due to its potential sedative effect.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
