Indications
Dexamethasone is used in the treatment of various medical conditions that require an anti-inflammatory or immunosuppressive effect. It is indicated for the management of autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis. It is also used in the treatment of respiratory diseases, including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. In cases of cerebral edema, Dexamethasone helps reduce inflammation and increased intracranial pressure. Additionally, this medication can be used in the management of severe allergic reactions and in the treatment of certain types of cancer as part of a broader therapeutic regimen.
Composition
Each ampoule contains Dexamethasone 8 mg in a volume of 2 ml. Excipients: sodium chloride, water for injection.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Dexamethasone or any of the excipients. It is also contraindicated in uncontrolled systemic infections, as well as in patients with active peptic ulcer, severe osteoporosis, and in those receiving live attenuated vaccines.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in its use in patients with diabetes, hypertension, renal or hepatic insufficiency, and in those with a history of thrombosis. It is important to monitor blood pressure and blood glucose levels during treatment. Prolonged use can cause significant adverse effects, so gradual dose reduction should be considered at the end of treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at temperatures not exceeding 30°C. Protect from light. Keep out of reach of children.
