Indications
Deflazacort is used in the treatment of various medical conditions that require an anti-inflammatory and/or immunosuppressive effect. It is indicated for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis. In addition, it can be used in the management of severe allergic conditions, respiratory diseases such as asthma, and in the treatment of certain types of cancer, in combination with other drugs. Its use is especially relevant in situations where a rapid anti-inflammatory response is required.
Composition
Each Deflazacort tablet contains 30 mg of deflazacort as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients that facilitate its formulation and absorption.
Contraindications
Deflazacort should not be administered to patients with known hypersensitivity to deflazacort or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It is contraindicated in untreated systemic infections, as well as in patients with active peptic ulcers and in those with viral diseases, such as chickenpox or herpes simplex, without adequate treatment. Its use should be carefully evaluated in patients with high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, and in those with a history of psychiatric illnesses.
Precautions
Regular medical monitoring is recommended during Deflazacort treatment, especially in patients requiring prolonged treatments. It is important to consider a gradual dose reduction at the end of treatment to avoid adverse effects. It should be used with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment, as well as in those who are being treated with other immunosuppressive drugs.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, away from direct light and out of the reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
