Indications
Crostox (Rosuvastatin) is indicated for the treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. Its use is appropriate in adult and pediatric patients older than 10 years with elevated LDL cholesterol levels, as well as for reducing cardiovascular risk in patients with a history of cardiovascular events. Rosuvastatin acts by inhibiting the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme, which is a key step in the synthesis of endogenous cholesterol. Furthermore, it is indicated as a complementary therapy to diet and physical exercise in patients with elevated total cholesterol. Regular monitoring of blood lipid levels during treatment is recommended.
Composition
Each Crostox tablet contains: 20 mg of Rosuvastatin as active ingredient. Excipients: Lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rosuvastatin or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with active liver disease or persistent elevations of transaminases. Its use is not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease, excessive alcohol consumption, and those who are undergoing treatment with other medications that may interact with rosuvastatin. It is important to perform liver function tests before starting treatment and during its use. Special monitoring is advised in elderly patients and in those with previous muscle diseases.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
