Indications

Colpradin is indicated as part of a comprehensive treatment for reducing elevated levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides in patients with primary hyperlipidemia or mixed dyslipidemia. It is also used for the prevention of cardiovascular events in patients with a history of coronary heart disease, as well as in those with cardiovascular risk factors. Pravastatin acts by inhibiting the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme, which is key in cholesterol synthesis in the liver, resulting in a decrease in low-density lipoprotein (LDL) concentrations and an improvement in the LDL/HDL ratio.

Composition

Each Colpradin tablet contains: Pravastatin sodium 10 mg as an active ingredient, as well as excipients: corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

Colpradin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pravastatin or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with active liver disease or persistent elevations of liver transaminases. It should not be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of liver disease, excessive alcohol consumption, or those who are undergoing treatment with other drugs that may affect pravastatin metabolism. Regular monitoring of liver transaminases is important during treatment.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a cool, dry place, protected from light and humidity. Keep out of reach of children.
