Indications
Clorixan is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by acyclovir-sensitive viruses. These include: herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections in immunocompetent and immunocompromised patients, as well as varicella-zoster virus infections. The medication can be used for the prophylaxis of herpes infections in patients with a history of recurrent infections, as well as in the treatment of skin and mucous lesions caused by the herpes virus. Additionally, it can be used in the treatment of herpetic encephalitis, as well as in the control of genital herpes outbreaks.
Composition
Each Clorixan tablet contains 800 mg of acyclovir as an active ingredient. It also contains excipients that facilitate the formulation of the medication, which are detailed on the product packaging.
Contraindications
Clorixan is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to acyclovir or to any component of the formula. Its use should be avoided in patients with severe renal insufficiency, as it may increase the risk of toxicity. Caution is recommended in patients with pre-existing neurological problems.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of kidney disease, neurological conditions, or dehydration. During treatment, it is important to maintain adequate hydration to prevent nephrotoxicity. Use in pregnant and breastfeeding women should be evaluated by a physician, considering the benefits and risks.
Storage
Clorixan should be stored in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of the reach of children. It is recommended to keep the product at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.
