Indications

Chloramphenicol Solution is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. It is used in the treatment of severe infections such as bacteremia, endocarditis, meningitis, and pneumonia, especially in patients who do not respond to other antibiotics. This medication is effective against a variety of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, as well as some anaerobic organisms. Its use should be evaluated based on the sensitivity of the pathogens involved, as well as the severity of the infection and the patient's response to treatment.

Composition

Each milliliter of Chloramphenicol Solution contains 5 mg of chloramphenicol as the active ingredient. Additionally, it may contain excipients that facilitate its formulation and stability.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to chloramphenicol or any of the components of the formulation. Likewise, it should not be used in patients with a history of aplastic anemia or hematological dysfunction, as well as in pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless the benefits outweigh the risks.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of hematological diseases, liver or kidney conditions, as well as in those who are receiving other medications that may affect hematological function. Regular monitoring of hematological function is recommended during treatment with chloramphenicol.
