Indications

Chloramphenicol Oint 5Mg is indicated for the treatment of superficial bacterial infections of the skin and soft tissues. Its use is appropriate in cases of infectious dermatitis, infected burns, and skin lesions where the presence of microorganisms sensitive to chloramphenicol is suspected. This medication works by inhibiting protein synthesis in bacteria, which results in stopping their growth and reproduction. It is important to note that the sensitivity of the microorganism causing the infection must be evaluated before starting treatment, and its use must be in accordance with its susceptibility.

Composition

Each 100 g of ointment contains: Chloramphenicol 5 g, excipients q.s.p. 100 g.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to chloramphenicol or any of the components of the ointment. It is also contraindicated in patients with pre-existing hematological diseases, such as aplastic anemia, as well as in those who are undergoing treatment with medications that may interfere with bone marrow function.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of hematological diseases, as well as in those who are using other topical medications. Application to deep wounds or extensive burns should be avoided. It should not be used during pregnancy and lactation unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
