Indications

Clonazepam is a medication indicated for the treatment of convulsive disorders, including epilepsy and epileptic seizures. It is also used in the management of anxiety disorders, as well as in the prevention of panic attacks. Its action is based on potentiating the activity of the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) neurotransmitter, which contributes to the inhibition of excessive neuronal activity that can lead to seizures. Additionally, it is prescribed in situations of severe insomnia and as part of the treatment for certain sleep disorders.

Composition

Each Clonazepam tablet contains 2 mg of Clonazepam as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients that allow for the formulation of the medication.

Contraindications

Clonazepam is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to clonazepam or any other component of the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of substance abuse, as well as in those with severe respiratory insufficiency or sleep apnea syndrome.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Clonazepam to patients with a history of depression, liver or kidney disease, and in those taking other medications that may depress the central nervous system. Close medical monitoring is suggested in case of prolonged use to prevent the development of dependence.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at temperatures not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the packaging.
