Indications

Citalopram is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorders in adults. It is also used in the treatment of anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. The medication acts as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), which helps to improve mood and reduce anxiety. It is important that Citalopram be used under the supervision of a physician, who can adjust the dose according to the patient's needs and monitor for possible adverse effects.

Composition

Each Citalopram tablet contains 20 mg of citalopram hydrochloride, as well as excipients necessary for its formulation. It is essential to read the product leaflet for a complete list of excipients and their function.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to citalopram or any of the components of the formula. It should not be administered in combination with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or in patients who have previously experienced serotonin syndrome. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of cardiac arrhythmias or QT interval prolongation.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of seizure disorders, liver or kidney disease, as well as in those taking other medications that may interact with citalopram. Additionally, the risk of suicide in young patients during treatment should be assessed.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children and do not use the medication after the expiration date indicated on the package.
