Indications
Ciprofloxacin is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections in various locations, including:
- Urinary tract infections, including cystitis and pyelonephritis.
- Respiratory infections, such as pneumonia and acute bronchitis.
- Gastrointestinal infections, including traveler's diarrhea and bacterial gastroenteritis.
- Skin and soft tissue infections.
- Bone and joint infections.
Additionally, Ciprofloxacin can be used in the treatment of some systemic infections. The effectiveness of the medication will depend on the type of bacteria causing the infection and its sensitivity to ciprofloxacin.
Composition
Each tablet contains 500 mg of ciprofloxacin as the active ingredient, as well as excipients suitable for the product's formulation.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin or other antibiotics of the fluoroquinolone family. It is also contraindicated in growing children and adolescents, as well as in pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless strictly necessary.
Precautions
Special care should be taken in patients with a history of kidney disease, neurological problems, or in those taking medications that may interact with ciprofloxacin. It is recommended to evaluate renal function before starting treatment.
