Indications

Celecoxib is indicated for the treatment of acute and chronic pain. It is used in the management of conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and pain associated with primary dysmenorrhea. It can also be prescribed for the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis. This medication works by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme, which reduces the production of prostaglandins and, therefore, decreases inflammation and pain.

Composition

Each capsule contains 200 mg of celecoxib as the active ingredient. Excipients include: microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, silicon dioxide, and gelatin.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to celecoxib, a history of severe allergic reactions to other NSAIDs, active peptic ulcer, severe heart failure, and those with severe liver or kidney disease. Its use is not recommended during the third trimester of pregnancy.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, asthma, or gastrointestinal problems. Regular monitoring is recommended for patients receiving prolonged treatment. Elderly individuals may be more susceptible to adverse effects. Concurrent use with other NSAIDs is not recommended.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
