Indications
Cefuroxime is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including: upper and lower respiratory tract infections, such as sinusitis and pneumonia; middle ear infections (otitis media); skin and soft tissue infections; urinary tract infections; and prophylaxis in surgical procedures. It is effective against susceptible microorganisms, and its use is particularly recommended in patients with a history of allergy to other antibiotics.
Composition
Each ampoule contains: Cefuroxime (750 mg), excipients: water for injection, hydrochloric acid and other components to ensure product stability.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or any other component of the formula. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of penicillin allergies, as cross-reactions may occur.
Precautions
It is recommended to evaluate renal function before starting treatment, adjusting the dose in case of renal insufficiency. It is important to monitor patients who experience diarrhea, as this may be a sign of antibiotic-associated colitis. Additionally, caution should be exercised when using this medication in pregnant or breastfeeding women, as well as in pediatric patients.
Storage
Store at room temperature, in a cool, dry place, protected from direct light. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
