Indications

Ceftriaxone is indicated for the treatment of severe bacterial infections, including:

  • Lower respiratory tract infections, such as pneumonia and acute bronchitis.
  • Urinary tract infections, including pyelonephritis.
  • Intra-abdominal infections, such as peritonitis and abdominal abscesses.
  • Skin and soft tissue infections.
  • Sepsis and septicemia.
  • Bacterial meningitis.
  • Bone and joint infections.
  • Prophylaxis in high-risk surgery.

Composition

Each ampoule of Ceftriaxone IV 1G contains:

  • Ceftriaxone sodium: 1 g
  • Excipients: water for injection, sodium chloride, among others.

Contraindications

Ceftriaxone is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in jaundiced neonates due to the possibility of bilirubin displacement.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, especially colitis. Renal and hepatic function, as well as platelet and neutrophil counts, should be monitored during prolonged treatments.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Protect from light. Keep out of reach of children.

  1. Free home delivery by local branches on orders over $1000. Otherwise, a $50 fee will be added in the cities of Querétaro and La Paz, BCS, and $150 in San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, BCS.

Otherwise, a fee of $170.00 MXN (One hundred seventy Mexican pesos) will be added for a standard package with dimensions up to 20cm x 20cm x 20cm and 1kg in weight, and $290.00 MXN (Two hundred ninety Mexican pesos) for packages exceeding the aforementioned dimensions or weight.
  3. In case of oversized items, the corresponding fee will apply according to the parcel service.
