Indications

Cefotaxime is used in the treatment of various bacterial infections, including:

• Lower respiratory tract infections, such as pneumonia and bronchitis.
• Urinary tract infections, including pyelonephritis and cystitis.
• Intra-abdominal infections.
• Skin and soft tissue infections.
• Sepsis and bacterial meningitis.

Cefotaxime is effective against a variety of sensitive microorganisms, and is commonly used in hospital settings and in the treatment of severe infections.

Composition

Each Cefotaxime ampoule contains 1G of cefotaxime sodium as the active ingredient.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or to any component of the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe renal insufficiency without appropriate dose adjustment.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering cefotaxime to patients with a history of penicillin allergies, as cross-reactions may occur. Additionally, renal function should be monitored during treatment, especially in elderly patients or those with pre-existing conditions affecting renal function. It should not be mixed in the same syringe or infusion with other medications without medical consultation.

Storage

Store at room temperature, in a dry place protected from light. Do not use after the expiration date printed on the package.
