Indications

Captopril is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension and for the treatment of congestive heart failure. It is also used in the prevention of renal failure in diabetic patients with proteinuria and in the reduction of cardiovascular event risk in patients with left ventricular dysfunction after myocardial infarction. Its mechanism of action is based on the inhibition of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), which results in a decrease in angiotensin II production, causing vasodilation and, consequently, a decrease in blood pressure.

Composition

Each tablet contains: Captopril 25 mg as active ingredient. Excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, starch, talc, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to captopril or any other ACE inhibitor, as well as in those with a history of angioedema associated with previous treatment with ACE inhibitors. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation, and in patients with bilateral renal artery stenosis.

Precautions

It is recommended to use with caution in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, renal or hepatic insufficiency. It is important to monitor blood pressure and renal function during treatment. Likewise, care should be taken in patients who are receiving diuretics, as there may be an increased risk of hypotension.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
