Indications

Captopril is indicated in the treatment of essential hypertension and congestive heart failure. It is also used in the management of patients with diabetic nephropathy. This medication works by inhibiting angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), which results in a decrease in blood pressure and an improvement in renal function in diabetic patients. It can be used as a standalone treatment or in combination with other antihypertensives.

Composition

Each Captopril tablet contains 25 mg of captopril as an active ingredient, in addition to excipients that facilitate its formulation and absorption.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with a history of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitor treatments, in those with bilateral renal artery stenosis, or in patients with known hypersensitivity to captopril or any other component of the formula. It should not be administered during pregnancy, as it can cause fetal harm.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of kidney disease, cardiovascular disease, or those who are undergoing treatment with diuretics. It is recommended to monitor blood pressure and kidney function at the start of treatment and throughout its use. Care should also be taken in patients with diabetes mellitus.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, protected from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
