Indications
Biperiden is indicated for the treatment of extrapyramidal symptoms, which may include tremors, muscle rigidity, and involuntary movements associated with the administration of antipsychotics. It is also used in the management of Parkinsonism and in cases of dystonias. Its anticholinergic action helps to balance neurotransmitter alterations in the central nervous system, providing relief from symptoms related to these conditions.
Composition
Each Biperiden tablet contains 2 mg of Biperiden as the active ingredient. Excipients include: lactose, corn starch, magnesium stearate, and talc.
Contraindications
The use of Biperiden is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the molecule or any of the excipients. Its use is not recommended in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma, myasthenia gravis, or those with urinary tract obstruction. Its use in children and adolescents should be carefully evaluated by a physician.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular diseases, liver or kidney problems, as well as those with impaired cognitive function. It is important to monitor patients receiving Biperiden for potential side effects, especially in elderly patients.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
