Indications

Biofilen (Atenolol) is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure, as monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensives. It is also used in the management of angina pectoris and in the prevention of heart attacks in patients with a history of heart disease. Its action is based on the reduction of heart rate and blood pressure, thus contributing to reducing the heart's workload. It is indicated in patients with arrhythmias and in the treatment of certain types of tachycardia. In addition, it can be useful in the prophylaxis of migraines and in the management of anxiety disorders.

Composition

Each Biofilen tablet contains 50 mg of Atenolol as the active ingredient. Excipients include lactose monohydrate, corn starch, magnesium stearate, and other components that facilitate the formulation of the medicine.

Contraindications

Biofilen is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Atenolol or any of the excipients. It should not be administered to individuals with severe bradycardia, second or third-degree atrioventricular block, decompensated heart failure, bronchial asthma or severe chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, and in those with untreated pheochromocytoma.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with diabetes mellitus, as Atenolol may mask the symptoms of hypoglycemia. Additionally, care should be taken in patients with renal or hepatic dysfunction. It is important to assess the patient's cardiovascular status before initiating treatment and to regularly monitor blood pressure and heart rate.

Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
