Indications
Bicalutamide is indicated for the treatment of advanced prostate carcinoma, especially in patients requiring hormonal therapy. This medication acts as an androgen receptor antagonist, meaning it blocks the action of testosterone in the body, preventing the growth of prostate cancer. It can also be used in combination with other hormonal treatments to improve treatment efficacy in certain patients.
It has also been used in the treatment of conditions such as benign prostatic hyperplasia and in hormone replacement therapy protocols in men with specific conditions under medical supervision.
Composition
Each ultra tablet contains Bicalutamide 50 mg as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients necessary for the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Bicalutamide or any of its components. Its use is not recommended in women, especially during pregnancy or lactation, due to possible adverse effects on the fetus or infant.
Precautions
Regular liver function tests should be performed in patients receiving Bicalutamide treatment, as it may cause liver toxicity. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease or those taking medications that affect liver function.
Patients should be monitored for possible adverse effects, including allergic reactions or symptoms of depression, and discontinuation of treatment should be considered if severe adverse effects occur.
