Indications
Bezafibrate is indicated for the treatment of dyslipidemias, especially in patients with hypertriglyceridemia and/or hypercholesterolemia. It is used as an adjunct to an appropriate diet for the reduction of blood lipids, as well as in the treatment of atherosclerotic coronary artery disease. Its use is recommended in patients who have not achieved desired lipid levels through diet and exercise. Additionally, bezafibrate may be beneficial in reducing the risk of cardiovascular events in high-risk individuals.
Composition
Each tablet contains 200 mg of bezafibrate as the active ingredient. Excipients: starch, lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, and magnesium stearate.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to bezafibrate or any component of the formulation. It should not be used in cases of active liver disease, severe renal insufficiency, and during lactation. Its use is not recommended in patients with biliary diseases.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease, as bezafibrate may alter liver function tests. Periodic monitoring of lipid levels and liver function is recommended during treatment. Likewise, concomitant use with other drugs that may increase the risk of adverse effects should be avoided.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
