Indications
Betahistine is indicated for the treatment of symptoms associated with Ménière's syndrome, including vertigo, tinnitus, and hearing loss. It has also been used to treat vestibular disorders, where dysfunction of the vestibular system causes episodes of dizziness and vertigo. This medication works by improving blood circulation in the inner ear, which contributes to the reduction of the aforementioned symptoms.
Composition
Each Betahistine tablet contains 24 mg of betahistine as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients that facilitate the formulation and stability of the medicine.
Contraindications
This medicine is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to betahistine or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with pheochromocytoma, due to the possibility of increasing catecholamine secretion. Likewise, its use is not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless deemed necessary by the doctor.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with asthma, peptic ulcers, or a history of gastrointestinal disorders, as betahistine may aggravate these conditions. Regular medical follow-up is important to evaluate the response to treatment and adjust the dose if necessary. In addition, the doctor should be informed about any other medications the patient is taking to avoid undesirable interactions.
Storage
Store the medicine in its original packaging at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
